NOSH’s Goal: Creating Mealtime Where Families Can Connect and Thrive

Eating is a universal experience that brings families, cultures, and communities together around stories, traditions, and everyday moments. But if your child is struggling with feeding, mealtimes might not feel like that right now. They might feel overwhelming, stressful, or even lonely for everyone at your table.
At NOSH, we see you. We know that when feeding is hard, it doesn’t just affect what’s on the plate. It touches emotions, routines, relationships, and the overall feel of your home. One of our deepest hopes is to help gently rewrite what mealtimes can mean for your family.
MORE THAN JUST ONE MORE BITE
When families reach out for feeding support, it’s often after months—or sometimes years—of worry. Maybe you’ve been:
Counting every bite
Rotating between the same three safe foods
Bracing for tears, refusals, or power struggles at the table
It’s common to think that the main goal of feeding therapy is simply to get your child to eat more foods and take more bites.
At NOSH, we see it differently. Yes, it matters that kids get enough to eat and learn to accept a wider variety of foods—but it isn’t the whole story.
Our goal isn’t just to increase the number of foods your child eats. Our goal is to help create a mealtime environment where your whole family can connect and thrive together.
We care deeply about how your table feels: calmer nervous systems, fewer battles, more connection, and a sense that everyone belongs there—including the child who is still learning to trust food.
WHY EATING IS SO COMPLEX
Eating is actually one of the most complex tasks we do as humans. It requires a lot from our bodies and our brains all at once, including:
Sensory processing (how foods look, smell, feel, and taste)
Oral motor skills (safely chewing and swallowing)
Posture and coordination (how we sit and move)
Breathing and regulation (being calm enough to eat)
Social and emotional cues at the table (how we interact with others)
When even one of those pieces is off, eating can start to feel scary, confusing, or exhausting. And when eating feels that way for a child, mealtimes can start to feel that way for the whole family too.
You might notice:
Siblings reacting to the stress around meals
Caregivers feeling guilt, frustration, or helplessness
Family routines shifting to avoid conflict at the table
None of that means you’re doing anything wrong. It simply shows how big and layered feeding really is—and how much support you deserve.
THE FUTURE WE HOPE FOR AT YOUR TABLE
When we think about NOSH’s goal, we don’t just picture more bites taken or a longer list of accepted foods. We picture an entirely different experience:
A child who feels more curious, safe, and confident around food
Mealtimes that feel calmer and more connected, even when things aren’t perfect
Caregivers who feel less alone and more hopeful about the path forward
A family who can experience meals as a time to be together—not a daily battleground
Our hope and desire is that your child will become so enthusiastic about food that mealtimes are the highlight of your day and theirs. We want them to love food and love to eat food in a way that honors their body and nervous system.
More than anything, we long for mealtimes to be fun, joyful, and life-giving again. We want to help transform your mealtime struggles into the joyful family experiences they were always meant to be.
From The Feeding Table to your family table,
Courtney
