One of the greatest joys in my life is being an occupational therapist. It’s more than a job—it’s my calling. Each day, I have the privilege of walking alongside families, learning their stories, and helping their children grow through the most important occupation of all—play.

Occupational therapy looks different for every child, but at its core, it’s about helping kids participate fully in the activities that matter most to them (and their families). For many, one of the most meaningful—and often most challenging—activities is eating.

WHY OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AND FEEDING GO HAND IN HAND

Mealtimes touch nearly every area of development—sensory processing, motor skills, emotional regulation, family routines, and social connection. When eating becomes difficult, it can quickly impact a child’s confidence and a family’s sense of peace at the table.

Helping children with feeding challenges is never just about the number of bites. It’s about:

  • Seeing and honoring each child’s unique story, preferences, and nervous system

  • Supporting the skills that make eating feel safe, fun, and attainable

  • Partnering with families to build routines and rhythms that feel encouraging and sustainable

INTRODUCING NOSH PEDIATRIC FEEDING THERAPY

April is Occupational Therapy Month and it feels like the perfect time to share a dream that’s been quietly growing for the last few years—the launch of NOSH Pediatric Feeding Therapy—a practice built on nurturing confidence, connection, and joy at the table.

NOSH offers family-centered, play-based feeding therapy for infants, children, and teens navigating a wide range of feeding concerns, including:

  • Picky eating and limited food variety

  • Sensory feeding issues and texture sensitivities

  • Food aversions and mealtime anxiety

  • Oral motor difficulties

  • Reflux and other gastrointestinal challenges

  • Food allergies and medical complexities

  • Tube feeding and transitions to oral feeding

  • Pediatric feeding disorder (PFD)

  • Everyday mealtime battles that leave families feeling exhausted or stuck

NOSH serves families in their homes across greater Houston and virtually throughout select states where we’re licensed. The goal is to meet families where feeding actually happens—at their own tables—and to make support as accessible and comfortable as possible.

WHAT FAMILIES CAN EXPECT WITH NOSH

Therapy at NOSH is designed to feel less like a clinic appointment and more like a compassionate partnership woven into everyday life.

Sessions are:

  • Family-centered. Caregivers are active collaborators, not bystanders. Your insights, values, and goals help shape every plan.

  • Play-based. Children learn best through play, exploration, and connection. We use playful, child-led experiences to build real progress with food.

  • Evidence-informed. Strategies are rooted in current research and best practices in pediatric feeding and occupational therapy while remaining flexible enough to fit your child and family.

  • Relationship-focused. Protecting the caregiver-child relationship is central to everything we do. Reducing pressure and power struggles around food is just as important as expanding what a child eats.

Underneath it all is a simple hope: to transform mealtime struggles into joyful family experiences.
